How to Join

Reasons to join the lodge

There are many reasons to become a Mason, and the best way to find out more is to ask a Mason about the fraternity. Here is a list of the top ten reasons to become a mason:

TEN  REASONS  TO  BECOME  A  MASON

1.  A place where you can confidently trust every person and trust your family with them also.

2.  A place where, within moral and civil guidelines; free thought, free speaking and the spiritual growth of man, can grow into its fullest potential.

3.  A place to meet outstanding individuals from all walks of life, that a person would not otherwise have had the opportunity to know and call brother.

4.  A place to be part of an organization which has for its principal tenets – Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth.

5.  A place that provides self-development opportunities, leadership training and experience, and to improve public speaking skills.

6.  A place you can go to seek support as well as give it.

7.  A place where moral virtues are taught and through these teachings a regular reinforcement of the moral virtues is experienced.

8.  A place to spend time with a group of brothers, who by acting as good men, make me want to become a better man.  Not better than others, but better than I would have otherwise been.

9.  A place to become better equipped to serve Church and community.

10.  A place to meet with established members of the community and to become a part of the community.

The best to learn about Masonry, and to meet our members, is to come to the dinner before our monthly stated meeting. We meet every second Monday of the month and eat dinner together at 6:00pm. Here you will meet some of our members who can tell you far more about the fraternity than any website can. We also encourage potential new members to visit the About Masonry page of this website that summarizes freemasonry. The Iowa Grand Lodge is also a good source of information, and they have a Path to Membership page with a thorough explanation of masonic membership and petitioning. We also have various lodge social functions and fundraisers throughout the year that anyone is welcome to attend. Check out the calendar or stay tuned to announcements for upcoming events for more information about these activities.

How to join our lodge

A long standing tradition of Masonry is “to be one, ask one.” This means that we do not go out and actively recruit members but we do warmly accept new men wishing to become masons.

If you live in the Estherville area, have met some of our members, and are ready to join, go ahead ask our members about getting a petition to join or you can contact the officers here. A petition must be filled out by a potential member and signed by two lodge members. That petition is then read at the next stated meeting. Following that, a committee of three lodge members will interview you and attempt to answer any questions you or your family may have. That committee then reports back to the members at the following stated meeting where the petitioning individual is voted on. If you don’t live in the Estherville, Iowa area please contact your local lodge to find out how you can join. If you need help finding a lodge, feel free to contact us and we’ll help you find one in your hometown.

Our lodge growing at a rapid pace and we welcome any interested men.
